We received an overwhelming response from our previous post “Free Grocery Scanner from Nielson! Earn Points & Prizes” and want to give you an honest review from one of our bloggers, Mel who received one recently, to give you an inside perspective at the Free Grocery Scanner before you decide to apply for one (applying for one is free, but openings are limited, so if you want one, click here to request yours today). So, is it for you? Read on!

I applied to become a panelist back in November of 2014 and completely forgot that I had applied until recently when I received an email from National Consumer Panel last month. I actually thought it was spam until I clicked on it. The email stated that I was selected to become a Panelist for NCP! It told me that all I had to do was scan my groceries each week & that they would reward me in varies forms! Easy right?? RIGHT! I accepted to have my scanner sent to me.

It took a bit until I received my scanner (last week). It came through FedEx & I had to sign for it upon delivery.

To be honest, I opened the box and was a little intimidated by the scanner. I let it sit in the box for about a week before I decided to give it a try. The scanner looks like an old black cordless home phone and I wasn’t sure how to even use it.

To my surprise, the scanner is VERY easy and self-explanatory! With the directions in my hand and the scanner in the other, I didn’t even have to read the directions once! It was very intuitive. All I had to do was pick who was the shopper in my house, who accompanied the shopper, the store name, and get to scanning!! Once I got done scanning, it asked me what my total balance was and my method of payment.  It literally took 5 minutes and I get REWARDED to do it!!!

So, what exactly did I get and how does it work?

  • To start, I got a base +1000pts just for receiving the scanner + accepting the Panelist spot!
  • Every time you scan your purchases, it gives you more points
  • These points can be redeemed for prizes in their prize catalog.

Their online catalog is filled with some pretty awesome items! I highly suggest applying for National Consumer Panel to get your own free grocery scanner. Start getting rewarded for buying the things you already do!
