- Debit REDcard – When you sign up for this card, you’ll need your checking account information (or a check). This card is linked directly to your bank checking account. You’ll pick a 4-digit pin number and use the pin to pay at checkout like you normally would when you use your own bank’s debit card.
- Why use the REDcard Debit card instead of cash or other forms of payment? Because you’ll save 5% off every time you shop in Target stores or online! - Credit REDcard – this is similar to any store credit card. – When you sign up for this card, you’ll need to provide information that your normally would when you apply for any store or credit card with another merchant. You will apply and if approved, receive a specific amount of credit that you can use in stores. To avoid fees or interest, be sure to pay this card off fully each month before the pay period ends.
- Why use the REDcard Credit Card? If you are on a strict budget or pay schedule, this is a great way to pay for things before you receive your personal or business income. You’ll save 5% off all your purchases online and in-stores just like when you use the Debit REDcard.

Target now has a NEW Target REDcard that is more secure than ever:
- If you are an existing REDcard holder, you may have already received a new card in the mail. This new card is a gold chip embedded into the card. This is to prevent fraud and help you shop more securely.
- At checkout, you’ll now insert your card into the card reader. Enter your pin like you normally would. Wait a few seconds for the card to verify before you remove the card.
