Is Topcashback any good? Is TopCashBack a Scam? A lot of people have the same questions you do! Ever since I started to share free offers like the Walmart Huggies Diaper Deal and more from TopCashBack, I have gotten this question a lot. These are all valid questions. You should question everything you do online because there are sites and companies out there that do scam you. However, TopCashBack is not one of them. I am a TopCashBack member and have been since August 2014. Please note: I do not work for TopCashBack and I was not paid to write this review.
How does TopCashBack work?
If you are familiar with Ebates, FatWallet or any other cashback / online shopping portal, TopCashBack is very much like them! How it works: You sign up for a 100% free account using your email address. Each time you log in and click on links from the TopCashBack website to go to a store website and make a purchase, you will receive a percentage of cashback based on your total purchase before tax and shipping. This percentage varies at each store.
Once your purchase is confirmed (this can take several days and even weeks so be patient), you can check your Account by clicking the Account link at the top right hand corner or the Payout link in the menu bar to request your cashback.
You can request cashback in three different ways:
1. ACH Bank transfer – transfer the money directly to your bank account by entering your bank account number (this is probably the fastest way to get your cash, the downfall is providing your bank information).
2. PayPal transfer – transfer the money directly to your PayPal account using your PayPal email address (this option is great if you don’t want to share your bank account information, once you receive it in your PayPal account, you can transfer it from PayPal to your bank account like you would any other kind of balance).
3. Amazon Gift Card credit – redeem for Amazon credit and get a unique gift card claim code via email. You would enter this code as an Amazon gift card into your account (I like this option the best: you get an extra 2.5% if you use this option, so instead of getting, say $10, you would get an additional $0.25, making it $10.25! FREE MONEY!)
If you shop as much as I do on Amazon, the 3rd option might be the best one for you. I usually pick this option since I plan on buying things from Amazon anyway. Please note: if you plan on using your Amazon credit, you might have to wait a day or two because you actually don’t get the code emailed to you right away.
What is different about TopCashBack in comparison to other cashback portals?
From time to time, TopCashBack will have specific offers on specific items.
What does this mean? Unlike Ebates, where you have to shop online thru their link and you will get a % of cashback based on your TOTAL purchase before tax and shipping, TopCashBack has special offers where you buy a specific item (like a box of diapers) and only that item in your purchase order, then pick it up at the store and earn back cashback on that item.
Provided that you don’t return the item and that you went through their link when logged into their website, you will get cashback for that item. Many times the amount of cashback has been 100% and more, of the cost to buy that item, making it free plus, what is known as, a Money Maker!
How does TopCashBack make money?
Like other cashback portals, TopCashBack may earn a percentage of your purchase (known as a commission) when you buy something using their link. TopCashBack might also partner with specific Advertisers or Stores to earn commission from your purchase. Honestly, I don’t think this should deter you from shopping through TopCashBack or any other cashback portal. If you are earning a percentage back, why not take advantage of it, like the thousands or even millions of people who are earning cashback every day?
Whenever I shop online, I never go directly to the store website. Why would I leave that extra penny on the table? If you follow my deals, you know that I always encourage my readers to shop thru Ebates, and now TopCashBack whenever possible. Not every store gives cashback, so you might not earn at some stores, but it never hurts to login to either of these portals to do a quick check by searching their website. Every penny counts, every penny adds up!
How to take advantage of TopCashBack to earn even more cash
TopCashBack has an amazing referral program (as of publishing this review, April 2015), when you invite a friend or family member (even people in your own household can have their own TopCashBack account!) using your own unique link, and the person you invited signs up to make a purchase or complete a special offer, you will earn a $10 cash credited to your account! Redeem this cash exactly how you would as I’ve shared above: PayPal, ACH Transfer or Amazon Credit with 2.5% back.

Another tip to earn even more cash
Shop during peak shopping days such as Holidays: Mother’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Black Friday and Weekends and you may even earn DOUBLE the cashback! Sometimes stores will “up” their cashback percentage. I am not sure about TopCashBack since I don’t shop thru there as much as ebates, but in the past, I have seen a percentage double at a certain store on special days. When this happens, you want to buy whatever it is you need, or want to get the most cashback-back!
